Well, hello! I’m Julie, but you can shorten that up a bit if you want: Jul or JJ is fine. My blog calls me JJ, anyway.
I’m a former journalist, freelance writer, independent author & English teacher currently based in Madrid, Spain. Former journalist, you say? Well…
After studying journalism at California State University, Fullerton, I landed an internship at NBC where I wrote the news. With dreams of becoming a sports journalist, I weaseled my way into sports writing gigs, covering the Los Angeles Clippers for a small local website for a couple of years. I got into freelance writing and self-published a novel, but life’s twists and turns eventually took me into the tech industry, where I worked as a product manager for three and a half years. But, adventure awaited, so I quit my job, sold all of my stuff and moved to Spain at the beginning of 2019.
Write On Dude is a space to get back to what I do best, writing. I wanted to create a space that was authentic to me, a space where I can talk about whatever I want. I want to talk about food, I want to share stories, I want to write about travel, and whatever other goodies pop into my mind and out of my fingertips. I don’t know where this blog will go, and I don’t have any intentions for it, except to make sure that it is high-quality and real. I hope you can find something here that’s new to you or that inspires you–that would be friggin’ awesome. But in any case, I’m just gonna write on, dude.
Okay, that ending felt really lame, but I couldn’t not do it. Anyway. Cheers, guys.
